Five burka clad men responsible for last year’s ‘smash & grab’ raid on Selfridges, have been jailed for a collective total of 58 years. Ritchie Graham, Vincent Bellamy, Kris Monaghan, Sam Curtin and Ian Rawlings were given sentences ranging from eight to 15 years for committing the crime.
The luxury department store was attacked about back on 06 June 2013, just half an hour before the store closed. A group of men armed with axes smashed open the glass cabinets on Selfridges’ ground floor before taking off on mopeds with jewellery and watches worth £1.5 million. Luckily, nobody was hurt in the attack.
Two people were later arrested after they came off a moped near Goodge Street and were prevented from fleeing by members of the public. One man was reportedly dressed in full motorcycle gear while a second man was dressed in a burka. Police apprehended both suspects. The same gang were reportedly responsible for a jewellery heist in Windsor just weeks before the Selfridges attack.
